RCA and Component Cables
Place the PS3 near the TV, within reach of the cable you have chosen to use to connect the console to the TV.
Plug the AC power connector into the power input on the back of the console. The power input is located on the right corner of the PlayStation 3 rear panel. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet -- or a power strip surge protector.
Plug the AV multi-out connector into the AV output on the rear panel of the PlayStation 3. The output is located to the left of the power input. Route the AV cable with RCA or component jacks to the outlet panel on the TV.
Plug the cable jacks into the corresponding inputs on the TV AV panel. The location of the TV panel will vary based on the make and model of your set. Consult your TV owner's manual for the location of the outlets, if they are not readily apparent.
HDMI Setup
Place the PS3 near the TV, within reach of the HDMI cable you have chosen to use to connect the console to the TV.
Plug the AC power connector into the input on the back of the console. The power input is located on the right corner of the PlayStation 3 rear panel. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet, or use a power strip surge protector.
Plug the HDMI cable into the HDMI outlet on the rear panel of the PS3. The HDMI outlet is situated to the left of the AV multi-out port, in the middle of the console's rear panel. Route the cable to the HDMI input on the TV.
Choose the HDMI input you will use to connect the PS3, if your TV has multiple inputs. Plug the HDMI cable into the HDMI port. Remember the heading over the HDMI port you have chosen for reference when you are accessing the input source through your TV's on-screen menu.
