How to Connect a PS3 to a Normal Television

The PlayStation 3 includes an AV cable that is intended for normal, standard-definition TVs. AV ports are the white, yellow and red ports found on most standard and high-definition TVs. Because PS3 games and applications are designed to run at higher resolutions, it may be difficult to read some of the text displayed on-screen while using the AV connection on anything but a standard-definition TV.

  Connect the square side of the PS3 AV cable into the AV Multi Out port on the back of the PS3 to the right of the HDMI port.

  Put the red, white and yellow prongs on to other side of the AV cable into the red, white and yellow AV ports on the TV.

  Change the TV to the AV video display mode. Depending on the TV, the mode may be referred to as AV, Input or Video. Press the "Power" button on the front of the PS3 to turn it on. You will know the PS3 has been connected properly when the PS3 logo appears on-screen.
