How to Explore Backed Up Stuff on a PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3 allows you to backup system information and saved game files on an external drive such as a USB memory stick or hard drive. This allows you to easily move data between PS3 consoles. You can also transfer saved game files you downloaded from the Internet and play them on your PS3. Once you have the files backed up, connect the drive to the PS3 to browse the contents.

  Plug the USB flash drive into the USB port on your PlayStation 3.

  Hit "Settings" from the main menu and press "System Settings."

  Open "Backup Utility" and hit "Backup."

  Hit "Confirm" twice and the system will ask you to select the destination. Select "USB Device."

  Unplug the drive once the backup operation is complete.

  Plug the USB flash drive into a USB port on your PC.

  Click the "Start" button and then "Computer." The flash drive shows up under "Devices with removable storage."
