How to Make a PS3 Account on the Slim

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) includes many online features, such as multiplayer gaming and media streaming. These features can only be accessed with a free PlayStation Network (PSN) account. The slim PS3 model allows you to create a PSN account directly on the PS3 itself from the main menu. After creating a PSN account, you will have accessed to firmware updates and the PlayStation Store.

Instructions

  Press the "Power" button on the front of the PS3 to turn it on. Scroll to the "PlayStation Network" icon on the main menu. Select "Sign up for PlayStation Network."

  Select "Create New Account." Read the overview of the sign up process and select "Continue."

  Enter your country, language and date of birth. Select "Accept" to accept the User Agreement. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the email address, password and security question you want to use for the account. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter your PSN username. The username cannot be changed once the account has been created.

  Enter your name, gender and street address using the on-screen keyboard. Place checks next to any Sony affiliates you would like to receive information from. Select "Confirm" to create the account. You will be sent back to the PS3 main menu after the account has been created.
