How to Hook Up Headphones to a PS3

Surround sound is an essential component of any interactive gaming experience. But you may not want to shake the whole house or disturb your housemates by blaring your sound system. This is where a good set of headphones come in. Unfortunately, in the case of the PlayStation 3, there is no built-in headphone jack. Still, you can connect wireless headsets to your PS3 via Bluetooth technology.

      Power on your PlayStation 3 and navigate to the Settings menu. Use the up-and-down arrow buttons on the PS3 controller to locate the Accessory Settings menu. Open the menu and click on "Register Bluetooth Device."

      Select the "Register Headset" option on the accessory screen. Turn on your Bluetooth headset and set it to "Pairing Mode." Click on the "Start Scanning" button on the PS3 screen. The gaming console will begin to scan for your wireless headset.

      Select your Bluetooth device once it appears on the screen. Enter the Bluetooth device pairing code when prompted. If you're not sure what the code is, most Bluetooth devices use "00000" as the default code.

      Exit the Accessory Settings menu and navigate to the Audio Settings menu. Click on the Input Device menu and change the device to your Bluetooth headset. Do the same to the Output Device menu.
