How to Troubleshoot a PS3 With No Input

The PlayStation3 is a home gaming console developed by Sony in 2006. Like many electronic games, the PS3 requires that you configure it, or hook it up, in a specific manner to complete tasks, such as displaying a picture through your television screen. If your configuration is not properly set, you will not see anything when trying to use your console. When this occurs, you must troubleshoot your device and see which part of your configuration is causing the problem.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify that your television is on the correct channel. For example, if your PlayStation3 cable is connected through your Video 1 input, monitoring the Video 2 channel will not let you see your PS3 display.

    • 2

Hold down the power button for five seconds. If timed properly, you will hear two beeps; the latter beep resets the video output, which may fix the display problem.

    • 3

Connect your PS3 to another television. If the display works, the original television may be having problems. If it continues to display no picture from the PS3, some other component is the problem.

    • 4

Connect your PS3 to your television with another cable. If the display works, the original cable may be broken. If it continues to display no picture, some other component is the problem.

Check the PS3 video port for damage. If there is any kind of damage, you must send the console to Sony for repairs.
