Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn the Sony PS3 around to look at the back of the system. Locate the component and HDMI output ports. The ports will read "Component" and "HDMI."
Check the back of your TV you are connecting the PS3 to. Make sure you have the corresponding ports on the back of the TV to match with the PS3's. All TVs have component connections, but not all have HDMI.
Connect either the component cable that comes with the PS3, or an HDMI cable, which is sold separately, into the back the PS3 system.
Connect the other end of the interface cable you are using into the TV's corresponding port. The component cable has three connections at the end. The red and white are for the audio connection. The yellow is for the video connection. The HDMI includes audio and video in a single cable.
Connect the PS3 power cord into a power wall socket that is close enough to the TV that the cord will not stretch. If the cord stretches, you could trip and bring down both the PS3 and the TV set.
Turn the PS3 and TV on to make sure the PS3 menu comes up on the TV screen. Connect the mini-USB cable that comes with the PS3 to the PS3 controller, and connect the other end of the USB cable into the PS3 USB port.
Pull the USB cable out of the PS3; the controller is now synced over the PS3's Bluetooth connection.
