How to Alter PS3 Saves

When saving game and account data on the PlayStation 3, the information is stored directly to the console's hard drive. However, users can access this data from the PS3 home menu. While there is no official way to alter the content of the save files themselves, players can view information about the saved game data (i.e., file size), as well as manage the data using an external storage device such as a USB Drive or Memory Stick.

Instructions

  Select "Game" from the XMB home menu and scroll down to "Saved Data Utility." Press the "X" button.

  Select the saved data you're looking for from the list that pops up. You will be shown all saved data on the hard drive, as well as data on any connected storage device. Press the "triangle" button to bring up your management options.

  Choose "Copy" to move the data file from your hard drive to another inserted media, or vice versa. Otherwise, select "Delete" to erase the saved file.
