Adding a New Name
Turn your PS3 on and wait for the menu screen to appear. Do not sign into your user account.
Select the "Users" tab from the menu list.
Select "Create New User" from the menu.
Fill in your personal information and an email address. You may use the email address that is linked to your PS3 online account or a new email address. You may have more than one username per email account.
Enter the new user name that you would like to use and create a password.
Choose to make the account a "Master Account" or a "Subaccount." A master account can edit privacy and parental game control settings. A subaccount is usually for users that require parental controls to block specific websites or games rated above a certain rating. You can have multiple master and subaccounts.
Select to enroll your new user name on the PS3 network. You will need to enroll your user name if you wish to play games online.
Visit your PS3's main menu and log into your new user name's account.
Editing a Current Name
Turn your PS3 on and wait for the menu screen to appear.
Log in to the username for the account that you wish to edit.
Move the cursor over your username's icon and then press the button that looks like a triangle. An "Options" menu bar will pop up.
Scroll down the "Options" menu bar and select "Information."
Highlight the username and select "Edit."
Edit your username and then select "Save."
