Instructions
Purchase an optical audio cable with Toslink connections on both ends. The package for the optical cable will tell you if the optical cable has Toslink plugs. An optical cable with Toslink plugs is the most common style of optical cables on the market.
Find the optical output on the back of the PlayStation3 unit. It will be labelled "Digital Out (Optical)." Insert one end of the optical audio cable into the digital output by looking at the shape of the plug and matching it with the way the output is designed. The Tolink plug on the end of the optical cable is designed to fit only one way.
Find the optical audio input on the back of the Sony Bravia surround sound system. It will be the output with the red light inside the output. The optical input will be labelled "Digital Out-Optical." Insert the other end of the optical cable into the optical input on the back of the Bravia surround sound system.
Select the "DMPORT" (Digital Media Port) option on the Bravia system by pressing the "Function" button up or down until "DMPORT" comes up on the display.
