How to Reset Your Email and Password on the PS3

The PlayStation Network (PSN) set it, but if you've forgotten your password linked to the PSN account, you can reset it through the console's account reset feature. The reset tool provides two options to change your password that includes answering the security question that was originally saved during the account setup or by having it emailed to your current email address. Once reset, the new password is automatically applied to your PSN account.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the PS3 and press the right arrow on the controller's directional pad until "PlayStation Network" is highlighted.

    • 2

Push the down arrow to open the PSN menu, and scroll down the highlight the "Sign In" option.

    • 3

Press "X" and scroll down to highlight "Forgot your password?" Push "X" to select the highlighted menu option.

    • 4

Type your email address (which is also your PSN sign-in ID) and push the down arrow to select your date of birth.

    • 5

Press the down arrow on the controller to highlight "Continue" and click "X" on the controller.

    • 6

Once sent, open the email message from PlayStation Network and enter the new password in the main PlayStation Network menu to access your account.
