How to Stream a PC to a PS3

Instead of using your computer to view pictures or watch videos and movies you can use your Sony PlayStation 3. Using the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) standard, you can create a media server from your laptop or desktop computer to share your libraries. Your Sony PlayStation 3 acts as a client while the computer functions as a server. Multiple devices, including other computers, can access the media server as long as you give each one permission.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Windows Media Player 11 on your desktop or laptop computer.

    • 2

Select "Media Library," located under the "Library" menu.

    • 3

Check the option next to "Share Media."

    • 4

Click "Allow" next to your PS3 icon to give it permission to access the media server. Repeat for any other devices you want to give permission to access your media library.

    • 5

Click "OK" to save your settings and complete the media server setup.

    • 6

Turn on your PS3, then select the icon of the media you want to access from "Photo," "Music" or "Video," then open the file.
