How to Troubleshoot the PS3 Media Server

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) can send data to your television wirelessly when the game console and television are connected to the PS3 media server, which uses digital living network alliance (DLNA) technology. The server creates a local network that links all DLNA-enabled devices to one server, and easily allows the sharing of pictures, music or videos. If your PS3 media server is not detecting the console, television or other devices, a network configuration issue may be preventing the DLNA server from functioning normally.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on the television and tap the power button on your game console to access the console's main menu.

    • 2

Scroll to "Settings" in the PS3 main menu using the game controller's directional pad.

    • 3

Select "Network Settings" and press "X" on the controller. Highlight "Media Server Connection" and tap "X". Highlight "Enable" and press "X" to disable the server.

    • 4

Highlight "Media Server Connection" in the Network Settings menu and press "X" to return to the enable/disable menu.

    • 5

Highlight "Enable" and press "X" to re-enable the console's media server.

    • 6

Scroll to the "Photo," "Music" or "Video" menu and select "Search for Media Servers" to reconnect to your local DLNA media server.
