How to Troubleshoot a Lagging PS3 Controller

PS3 controllers are DualShock wireless devices that allow you to play games and movies and control several of your gaming console's features and settings. Your controller may be lagging or fail to respond for a number of reasons including running out of battery power and out of signal range. If your controller is not responding, a few troubleshooting steps and guidelines may solve problems and improve your device's performance.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your PS3 controller and then turn it on to see if this resolves the lagging problem.

    • 2

Make sure your controller is charged. If it isn't, connect it to your PS3 console using your USB cable. Leave it for a while until it's fully charged.

    • 3

Reset your controller if it's still running into problems. To do so, press and hold the "Reset" button on the back of your controller for a few seconds, and then release it.

    • 4

Connect the controller back to the gaming console to pair it with your device. Once connected, the controller automatically pairs.

    • 5

Press the "PS" button and wait a few seconds for the gaming console to assign a number to your controller.
