How to Hook Up a PS3 to a Vizio TV for Best Picture

Both the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) and Vizio LCD flatscreen television promise state-of-the-art experiences. In order to get the most out of each device, it's important to connect the two properly and with the best cables available. Fortunately, the PS3 is made to take advantage of the Vizio's high-definition capabilities via the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) cable standard.

  Plug one end of the HDMI cable into the back of the PS3. The port is labeled "HDMI Out" and is the left-most plug in the row of four openings to the left of the power switch.

  Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the back or side of your Vizio TV. The location of the "HDMI In" port will depend on the model of Vizio TV you own. It will be shaped exactly like the port on the back of the PS3.

  Turn on the Vizio television and the Sony PlayStation 3.

  Press the "HDMI" button on the Vizio remote. The location of the button will depend on the exact model of television and remote you own. If there is no button labeled "HDMI," press the one labeled "Input" until the screen shows you've selected HDMI.

  Verify that the PS3 dashboard is appearing on the screen.
