Instructions
Press and hold the PS3 Slim's power button until the front light turns red.
Press and hold the power button again for 10 seconds. You will hear a total of three beeps, indicating resets.
Press and hold the power button once more for 10 seconds. You will hear two beeps followed by a fast double-beep. When this double-beep occurs, a message displays onscreen requesting you to connect a controller via USB.
Attach your controller to the console using its USB cable. Press the "PS" button to power on the controller.
Select one of the six options on the menu to figure out the problem. For example, "Restore Default Settings" returns the PS3 to factory settings, including removing your PSN account. "Restore File System" repairs any errors on the saved game hard drive. "Rebuild Database" removes the media stored on the drive. "Restore System" completely wipes all new data on the drive, making it like new.
