Connecting to a Verizon Wired Home Network
Insert a RJ-45 Ethernet cable into the ethernet port at the rear of the PS3. Insert the other end of the cable into one of the four Local Area Network (LAN) ports at the back of the wired router. You can also connect the ethernet cable directly into the port at the back of the broadband modem, if you so choose.
Navigate to "Settings" using the PS3's directional pad, and then press "X" on the controller to select "Network Settings." Choose "Internet Connection Settings." A prompt will appear stating that you will be momentarily disconnected from the Internet. Select "Yes" to proceed.
Select "Wired Connection, and then press the "X" button. Select "Easy" at the "Network Configuration" screen. The PS3 will automatically scan and configure most of your network settings. To enter settings for PPPoE, finish the configuration and return to the "Network Configuration" screen. Select "Custom" and navigate to "IP Address Setting." Select "PPPoE" and enter the username and password supplied by Verizon. Save your settings when finished.
Test your connection by selecting "Test Connection." Information about the network will be displayed when the PS3 successfully connects to the Internet.
