How to Hook Up a Universal Cable to a PS3

The Sony PS3 comes with a composite AV cable provided to hook your PS3 up to your TV. If for any reason you want to replace this cable, then you can use a universal cable that can hook up a number of consoles to a TV, with provided connections for each. You just need to match the correct jacks to the correct ports.

Instructions

      Purchase a universal cable compatible with the PS3.

      Connect the PS3 plug from the console connection end into the "AV Multi Out" port on the back of the PS3.

      Connect the five jacks in the other end of the cable into their color-corresponding jack ports on your TV, labelled "Y," "PB/CB," and "PR/CR" for video and "L" and "R" for audio.

    • 4

      Turn on the PS3 and TV to test the connection for both video and audio.
