How to Hook Up a PS3 Lag

A lag switch is a push-button switch that connects to an Ethernet cable and inserts delays into the flow of traffic in the Internet connection. If used during an online game on your PS3, the lag switch, when pushed, will cause your character to appear to the other gamers as if it isn't moving. The reality is that your character can move so this causes you to gain advantages over the other players.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Ethernet cable that is currently connected to the port on the rear of your PS3 game console.

    • 2

Remove the other end of the Ethernet cable from the port on the modem.

    • 3

Plug one end of the Ethernet cable with the attached lag switch into the port on your home cable modem.

    • 4

Plug the remaining end of the cable into the Ethernet port at the rear of the PS3.

    • 5

Begin a new game on your PS3. Press the lag switch down to enable lag in the game.
