Things You'll Need
Instructions
Disconnect all power sources from the television, stereo and PlayStation 3. You want all of the electricity to be cut between these devices, as you do not want to blow any speakers while connecting your PS3.
Position the PlayStation 3 close to the stereo unit so that the optical audio cable can reach between the devices. If your optical cable provides for a longer connection, position these two devices in a manner that both satisfies your setup needs and cable requirements.
Connect the optical audio cable to the digital output of the PS3, located between the HDMI out and AC multiport out. Plug the other end of the optical cable into the optical input of your stereo receiver. If you can't find this particular input, consult your owner's manual.
Plug in all of the power sources and turn on each of your devices. Change the input settings on your stereo receiver to optical in order to allow the PS3 to communicate with this device.
