How to Hook Up Your PS3 to Your TV With No AV Input

Although many newer HDTVs still have AV inputs, some have abandoned these low resolution connections altogether for high-resolution HD inputs such as HDMI and S Component video. PS3 is a gaming console that outputs content in both Hi-Definition and Standard-Definition, so if your TV doesn't include AV inputs, connect your gaming console using a high-resolution connection.

Instructions

  1. Using a HDMI Cable

    • 1

Connect one end of your HDMI cable into the "HDMI Output" on the back of your PS3 gaming console, and then connect the other end into an "HDMI Input" on your TV.

    • 2

Turn on your gaming console, and then turn on your TV.

    • 3

Press the "Input" button on your TV or remote control and select the HDMI channel your game is connected to. You should see the XMB menu on your screen.

    Using S component Video Cable

    • 4

Connect the AV connector on the cable to the AV on the back of your PS3, and then connect the color-coded pins to the color-coded S component inputs on your TV.

    • 5

Turn on your gaming console, and then turn on your TV.

    • 6

Press the "Input" button on your TV or remote control and select the input channel your game is connected to. You should see the XMB menu on your screen.
