How to Make Four Remotes Work for the PS3

PlayStation 3 (PS3) gamers have the option of syncing multiple wireless controllers with the device. This allows you and your friends to enjoy multiplayer games, such as sports titles, without having to worry about crossing up any wires connected to both the controllers and the PS3. Before you use any controller with the gaming console, you must first sync, or "pair," each of the controllers one at a time to the PS3.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the PS3 on. The PS3 must be turned on whenever you pair controllers with the device.

    • 2

Connect the USB cable included with the controller to the USB port on the front of the PS3.

    • 3

Connect the other end of the USB cable to the port located on the top of the controller.

    • 4

Press the "PS" button in the center of the PS3 controller. The controller "Pairs" with the PS3, and either one or two of the controller's "Port Indicator" lights found in the top, left corner of the controller's face flashes. For example, the "1" Port Indicator light flashes if this is the first controller ever paired with the PS3. Lights "1" and "4" flash simultaneously if pairing a fifth controller with the PS3.

    • 5

Repeat Steps 1 through 4 with the remaining three PS3 controllers. Using the same USB cable mentioned in Steps 2 and 3 is OK, but you are also able to use the USB cables included with each remote.
