How to Get Audio for the PS3 Through a TV

The Sony PlayStation 3, or "PS3," is Sony's third-generation PlayStation home console. Featuring Blu-Ray and DVD support, as well as Netflix streaming, the PS3 offers users a multitude of media options in addition to the traditional games. These features are all best used with some kind of audio output and, if you lack an external stereo system, plugging the PS3 into your television's audio will do just fine.

  Identify the type of audio input that your television accepts by consulting the user's manual, or by reading the labels on the input panel on the television itself.

  Connect the proper cable to the matching output in the back of the PS3 system.

  Plug the other end of the cable into the input on your television system and then power up the PS3 and the television.

  Navigate to the "Settings" menu, then the "Sound Settings" menu, and enter the "Audio Output Settings" sub-menu.

  Select the "Television Audio" option and then return to the main menu to select the content you wish to view or play.
