How to Get a Song on the PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) comes equipped with an internal hard drive. You have the ability to save songs to this hard drive. The PS3 is designed to recognize .wav .atrac, .mp3, and .aac audio files. To copy a song onto your PS3, the music file must be in one of the aforementioned formats and stored on a CD or USB device. Once the song is saved to the PS3 you can play it back anytime from the PS3 console.

Instructions

Copy Music File from an USB Memory Stick to the PS3

  Turn on the PS3 console. Turn on the TV the console is connected to.

  Plug the USB stick, which contains the music files you want to copy, into one of the USB ports on the front panel of the PS3 console.

  Use the arrow buttons on the PS3 controller to navigate to "Music" in the XMB menu. Highlight "USB Device." Press the "X" button on the controller to select the highlighted item.

  Press the triangle button on the controller to display the options menu. Select "Display All."

  Navigate to the music file you want to copy to the PS3. Press the triangle button on the controller. Select "Copy."

  Turn on the PS3 console. Turn on the TV the console is connected to.

  Insert the audio CD into the PS3 console.

  Use the arrow buttons on the PS3 controller to navigate to "Music" in the XMB menu. Highlight the "Audio CD" icon. Press the triangle button on the controller to bring up the CD options menu.

  Highlight "Import." Press the "X" button on the controller to import all of the songs on the CD to the PS3.
Play a Song Stored On the PS3

  Turn on the PS3 console. Turn on the TV the console is connected to.

  Use the arrow buttons on the PS3 controller to navigate to "Music" in the XMB menu.

  Navigate to and highlight the song you want to play. Press the "X" button on the controller to select the highlighted item. The song will begin playing.
