How to Get Non-Encrypted PS3 Saves

The PlayStation 3 stores music, video, games and other data on its internal hard drive. You can make a non-encrypted backup of a game save file using a menu included in the PS3's operating system. A portable USB drive will be needed, as will a USB cable. The drive can be purchased from an electronics shop or computer store and does not have to be formatted in any special manner to be used with the console.
