How to Play Movies That Are Stored on an iMac Through the PS3 to the TV

Your iMac can store a large number of downloaded movies on its hard drive. However, you may want to play these movies on a larger screen than your iMac provides. This is possible through burning the movies to a DVD-R disc and playing this disc through a PS3 attached to a TV. This is a process you can manage regardless of your familiarity with these devices.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a blank DVD-R into your iMac's CD/DVD drive. A DVD-R is a blank disc that allows you to record movies onto it.

    • 2

Burn the selected movie(s) that you have on your iMac onto your blank DVD-R. If you have multiple movies you will need multiple DVDs. Upon inserting the DVD-R into your iMac, a wizard will pop up that leads you through how to burn the disc. Choose the default general settings and the default data format, enter an arbitrary name for your disc and press the "Burn" button with your mouse.

    • 3

Wait as the DVD-R burns. You will receive a notification when it is finished.

    • 4

Eject the DVD-R from your iMac.

    • 5

Insert the DVD-R into your PlayStation 3. The PS3 will automatically read and play the contents of the disc through the display and speakers of your attached TV.
