How to Get the DNS Code for the PS3

The Domain Name Server address is important for online connectivity of the PlayStation 3 console. When this numerical address is no longer in service or if it is entered incorrectly, users may see an error code (i.e., "80710102") when attempting to connect to the PlayStation Network or other Internet-enabled functions on the PS3. PS3 users can easily check their DNS settings to remove inaccurate DNS codes and restore their console's online connectivity.

Instructions

    • 1

Select the "Settings" icon at the PS3's main menu. Press the "X" button on the controller, and then press "X" again at the "Network Settings" icon.

    • 2

Select "Internet Connection Settings," and then select "Yes" when prompted. The PS3 console will temporarily disconnect from the Internet while you're editing the connection settings.

    • 3

Select "Custom" at the next screen and choose "Wired Connection" or "Wireless Connection," depending on the type of connection used. Use the directional pad to scroll through the custom settings until you see "DNS Setting."

    • 4

Press the "X" button to select "DNS Setting" and select "Manual." The primary and secondary DNS should appear on-screen.
