How to Get DLC From Different Regions on the PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 video game console features a wireless Internet connection that allows players to access the PlayStation Network (PSN). The PSN is divided into regions in an effort to provide relevant content to users that speak certain languages. Each storefront contains games and downloadable content (DLC) specific to that region. To access DLC on a PSN storefront in a different region, you will need to create a new PSN account associated with that region. This process can become confusing when trying to access a region that uses an unfamiliar language.

Instructions

  1. Creating a Japanese PSN Account

    • 1

Select the "Create New User" option on the main PlayStation 3 XMB menu. Enter a name for this user account and select "OK."

    • 2

Scroll to the right and select "Sign Up for the PlayStation Network" under the Network tab. Select "Create a New Account (New Users)" on the following screen.

    • 3

Select "Continue" to access the Region screen. Select "Japan" from the Region drop-down menu. The menu language is now entirely in Japanese. Enter your date of birth in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the screen and select "Continue." The "Continue" button is always the rightmost button at the bottom of the screen.

    • 4

Select "Continue" once more to access the Account Email and Password screen. Enter your email address in the first text-entry field. You must use an email address that is not currently associated with a PSN account. Enter your desired password in the second field. Confirm your password in the third field and select the check-box below to save your password information. Enter a password reminder in the last text-entry field and select "Continue."

    • 5

Enter your desired PSN ID name and select "Continue" to access the Personal Information screen.

    • 6

Enter your last name in the first text-entry field. Enter your first name in the second field and select a random entry from the drop-down menu. Select "Continue" to access the Address screen.

    • 7

Enter a five-digit number in the first text-entry field. Since you do not live in Japan, you will need to create a fake address. Enter random text in the following five fields and select "Continue." Click the check-box on the following screen if you want Sony to send emails to your PSN email address. Select "Continue" to access the Confirmation screen.

    • 8

Select "Continue" to confirm your account. Press the "X" button to go directly to the Japanese PSN storefront.

Creating a European/North American PSN Account

    • 9

Select the "Create New User" option on the main PlayStation 3 XMB menu. Enter a name for this user account and select "OK."

    • 10

Scroll to the right and select "Sign Up for the PlayStation Network" below the Network tab. Select "Create a New Account (New Users)" on the following screen.

    • 11

Select "Continue" to access the Region screen. Select your desired PSN region from the drop-down menu. Select your desired menu language from the Language drop-down menu. Enter your date of birth in the DOB drop-down menu and select "Continue."

    • 12

Follow the rest of the on-screen prompts to create your PSN account. Access the PSN storefront by selecting "PlayStation Store" from the Network tab on the main PlayStation 3 XMB menu.
