Preparation
Plug one end of the PS3 AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" jack on the back of the PS3 console. Insert the red, white and yellow plugs (located on the other end of the cable) into the red ("Audio R), white ("Audio L") and yellow ("Video) input jacks on the TV set respectively.
Connect the PS3 to a power source and turn the device on.
Change the TV's video input channel to AV by continuously pressing the "Input" or "Source" button on the TV's remote control until you see the PlayStation start screen.
Use the arrow buttons on the PS3 controller to select "Settings" from the XMB menu. Highlight "Date and Time Settings" then press the "X" button on the controller. Set the current date and time.
Insert the mini-B end of the PlayTV USB cable into the USB port on the PlayTV device. Insert the other end of this cable into a USB port on the PS3.
Connect the other end of the coaxial cable attached to your TV antenna to the RF input terminal on the PlayTV device.
Load the PlayTV CD into the PS3.
Select "Game" from the XMB menu. Highlight the disc icon, then press the "X" button on the controller. The PlayTV software is installed on the PS3 hard disk drive as the PlayTV welcome video plays.
Set Up PlayTV on the PS3
Select the TV icon from the XMB menu. PlayTV will load.
Follow the on-screen prompts to set up PlayTV by selecting your language, country, time zone and so forth.
Press the "X" button on your controller at the last prompt, "Tuner Detection," to initiate the automatic channel scan operation.
Run PlayTV
Select the TV icon from the XMB menu. PlayTV will load.
Select "Live TV" from the PlayTV menu.
Use the "L1" and "R1" buttons on the PS3 controller to flip through the TV channels. Press the Square button to display the Program Guide. Use the "L2" and "R2" buttons to rewind and fast forward live TV. Press the "Start" button to pause or play Live TV. Press the "Select" button to start or stop Live TV recording.
