How to Assign DualShock to a PS3

The Dual Shock 3 game pad for the PlayStation 3 console shares much of the same styling and ergonomic cues with the original Sixaxis controllers. The Dual Shock 3 includes an integrated "rumble" feature, designed to enhance the user's gaming experience. Pairing and assigning the Dual Shock 3 controller requires the same process as the original Sixaxis design.

Instructions

      Turn on the game console and wait for the XMB or login screen to appear.

      Connect the smaller end of the USB cable to the small port, found on the top portion of the Dual Shock 3 controller.

      Connect the remaining end of the USB cable to an available USB port on the PS3.

      Hit the center "PS" button to initiate the pairing process. During the pairing process, the controller LEDs will flash. After the pairing process, the system will use the LEDs to display the assigned controller position.

      Navigate to the "Settings" menu and choose the "Accessory Settings" option. Highlight the "Reassign Controllers" menu and press the "X" button. Choose the desired controller number and confirm the selection.

      Exit the settings menu to complete the process.
