Activating Hot Spot on Android

  Press the "Home" button, then press the "Menu" button (the latter symbolized by a column of four lines). Next, tap on the "Settings" option (or app on some models).

  Tap on the "Wireless &networks" menu option, then tap on the "Tethering &portable hotspot" section.

  Tap on the box next to "Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot" (which will check-mark and activate Wi-Fi hot spot for your smart phone).

If you are unable to locate the "Settings" app, press the physical "Home" button once, then wait three seconds before pressing the physical "Home" button again. Type "Settings" in the search field, then tap on the "Settings" app that is displayed within the search results.

  Select the "Easy" method, then press the "X" button on your controller. On the next screen select "Wireless," then press the "X" button on your controller again.

  Select "Scan," then press the "X" button on your controller. Select your smart phone's hot spot (which is listed underneath the "SSID" section), then press the "X" on your controller. If you do not see your smart phone listed, verify that your smart phone is still broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal and that it is near your PS3.

  Verify that your PS3 is able to see your smart phone on the next screen, then press the "right direction" button. On the next screen, underneath the "WLAN Security Section," select "None" if you did not create a security password to access your smart phone's Wi-Fi hot spot. If you did create a password, select the "WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK" option, then press the "X" button. Press the "X" button again, then type in the correct password in the "WPA Key" field using the onscreen keyboard.

  Verify that your PS3 is configured to connect to your smart phone's Wi-Fi hot spot, then press the "X" button to save your settings. On the next screen test the connection between your PS3 device and smart phone by pressing the "X" button again. You will see a "Succeeded" next to the "Internet Connection" section, which will verify that your PS3 is connected to your smart phone's Wi-Fi hot spot.
