Things You'll Need
Instructions
Turn on your PS3 while it is still connected to your TV. Navigate to the "Settings" icon, and select the "Display Settings" option from the drop-down menu.
Select "Video Output Settings," and then select "Component or D-Terminal" from the list of options.
Press "X" when it prompts you to "Press the X button." The screen will be displayed on this setting. If you have a Japanese PS3, it will prompt you to press the "O" button instead. Select "Yes" and press "X" to continue.
Select the resolution (Standard, 480p, 720p, 1080p) supported by the TV or monitor. You can select any of the resolutions compatible with your device. Press "X" to continue, once you have selected the resolution.
Press "X" to confirm the changes. Review the settings when prompted on the screen, and press "X" to finish.
Disconnect the HDMI cable from the back of your PS3. Connect one end of the PS3 component cable that comes with the VGA box to the "AV Multi Out" port located on the back of your PS3.
Connect the other end of the PS3 component cable to the VGA box. These are the red, blue, green and white cables. Insert the group of three cables in the center, in the input that matches each cable's color. Insert the other two cables -- red and white -- on each side of the first three cables, also matching the colors.
Plug one end of the VGA cable to the VGA input of the device you are using with your PS3. Connect the other end of the cable to the "VGA Card" port on the VGA box. Turn on the VGA box and the device now connected to the PS3.
