How to Create PS3 Themes With Sound

The Sony PlayStation 3 game console features a customizable menu interface that allows for the creation of backgrounds, icons, fonts and sounds effects. The PlayStation 3 Theme Builder application is a tool that greatly simplifies the theme building process, allowing designers to focus on art and design, rather than tedious file management. PlayStation 3 themes and the Theme Builder application are compatible with VAG format sound files that are used for navigational menu and cursor sound effects.

Instructions

  Click "File" located on the PlayStation 3 Theme Builder tool bar and select "New." Select "Create a new theme from scratch" and type the name of your theme into the field below. Click the "OK" button to access the Theme Information tab.

  Fill out the various Theme Information fields with your personal information. Select the theme language from the Language menu on the left hand side of the application window.

  Click the "Icons, Colors, Font" tab. For each item in the Main Menu section, click the "Browse" button and load the corresponding main menu theme icon. For each listing the sub-menu section, click the "Browse" button and load the corresponding sub-menu theme icon.

  Click the "Backgrounds" tab. Click "Add a new background set" and "Browse for HD background" to load the desired high definition background image. All HD backgrounds must be 1920 by 1080 pixels in size. Click "Browse for SD background" to load the desired standard definition background image. All SD backgrounds must be 640 by 480 pixels in size.

  Click the "Additional Commands" tab. Highlight the navigational sound effect identifier you want to change from within the Sound Effects section and click "Upload Sound." Browse to the desired VAG format sound file and click "Open."

  Click the "Build Theme" button at the bottom of the application window to compile and save the completed theme in P3T format.
