How to Hook Up a Cell Phone Bluetooth to the PS3

The PlayStation 3 supports most cell phone Bluetooth headsets for voice chat. Before the Bluetooth headset will work, it must be paired (synchronized) with the PS3. Only one Bluetooth device can be paired with the PS3 at a time, so any other Bluetooth devices will have to manually paired again. The PS3 allows you to change the outgoing voice volume of a headset, making it easier for other players to hear you in-game.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the PS3 on and go to the "Settings" icon. Go down and select "Accessory Settings." Go down and select "Manage Bluetooth Devices." Select "Yes" to register a new Bluetooth headset.

    • 2

Press the "Pair" or similarly titled button on the Bluetooth headset. If the headset does not have a "Pair" button, refer to the documentation to find out how to place the phone into pairing mode.

    • 3

Select "Register New Device." Select "Start Scanning." The name of the Bluetooth headset will appear on-screen. Press the "X" button. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter the headset's passkey. The default passkey for most Bluetooth headsets is 0000. Select the "OK" button. Press the "O" button to return to the Settings menu.

    • 4

Go to "Audio Device Settings." Select "Input Device." Talk into the headset and press the "X" button to adjust the volume. Press the "OK" button when you're finished.
