How to Fix a Melted Audio/Video Card for PS3

Video gaming consoles are complex machines.Trying to take them apart and repair them often results in rendering them useless. And worse, it often voids the warranty on the console. The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is among them If the audio/video cards overheat and melt you must send your console to Sony for repair.

  1. Sending the PS3 in for Repair

      Find and write down the model number of the PS3. It's on the back of the console, underneath the bar code on a white sticker. The last seven to nine numbers, depending on your model, are the model number.

      Find and write down the serial number of the PS3. It is also under the bar code on the white sticker. The serial number is made up of the first 11 numbers after the word "Serial."

      Go to the Sony repair website and submit an online service request. Fill in all pertinent information, including the serial and model numbers and the reason for repair -- a melted audio/video card. Pay the fees associated with having the console repaired.

      Follow the instructions given to send the PS3 to Sony for repairs.
