Sony released firmware update 3.56 for the Sony PlayStation 3. The update has caused some PlayStation 3 consoles to have trouble connecting to the Internet. You can configure your DNS and proxy server settings to bypass this error and connect to the Internet on your PlayStation 3. You will know if your PlayStation 3 is experiencing this error if it automatically disconnects from the network upon updating to 3.56.

      Select "Settings" then "Network Settings" and finally "Internet Connection Settings."

      Select "Custom" for "Settings."

      Set "IP Address Configuration" to "Automatic."

      Set "DHCP" to "Do Not Use."

      Set "DNS Settings" and "MTU" to "Automatic."

      Set "Proxy Server" to "Use."

      Set "Address" to "bypass356.servehttp.com " and the port to "7070" for your proxy server settings.

      Set "UPnP" to "Enable."

      Select "Test Network Connectivity." Your PlayStation 3 should successfully connect to the Internet.

      Back out of the "Settings" menu and connect to the PlayStation Network.
