Multiplayer Controller Connection Problems in Black Ops for the PS3

"Call of Duty: Black Ops" is a popular first-person shooter for a variety of gaming platforms, including the PlayStation 3. Controller connection problems usually do not have anything to do with the game, but rather with your PS3 gaming console. Re-syncing your controllers may fix the connection problem when playing "COD: Black Ops," but if you are still suffering from connection issues, it could be because of your PS3's online connection.

Instructions

  1. Re-Syncing Controllers

    • 1

Turn off the PS3 console. Connect the USB cable to the port on the PS3 and to the USB port on the controller.

    • 2

Turn on the power on the PS3 and press the PlayStation logo button located in the center of the controller. The lights on the controller should flash; once the flashing is done, the controller is synched with the console. Disconnect the USB cable from the controller in order to use it wirelessly.

    • 3

Repeat the same steps to re-synch other controllers.

    Online Connection Problems

    • 4

Turn your wireless router off and then wait for about 30 seconds. Turn the router back on. Wait again for few seconds to see if you are connected when playing "COD: Black Ops."

    • 5

Use your computer and open up your Internet browser. Access your router by entering its IP address and then the username and password for the router. Go to "Security" and then click on "Firewall" and "Applications and Games." Select "QOS." Choose "High" for Internet Access Priority. Save your settings. Your connection should increase when playing "COD: Black Ops" or other PS3 games.

Reposition your wireless router closer to your PS3 console.
