How to Stream Zune to a PS3

The PlayStation 3 entertainment system has built-in support for wireless media streaming directly from your PC. However, those wishing to stream content from their Zune player cannot directly do so due to an incompatibility between the PS3 and Zune software. This is due to the competitive nature of the relationship between Microsoft with its Xbox 360 and Sony with its PS3. Fortunately, there is a workaround to this incompatibility and the solution is pretty simple and easy to execute.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your PS3. Your PS3 and the PC you will be using for streaming must be connected to the same network.

    • 2

      Open Windows Media Player 12.

    • 3

Click on the "Library" option from the upper toolbar, then select "Media Sharing" from the drop-down menu.

    • 4

Check the "Share my media to:" box.

    • 5

Select the "Video," "Photos" or "Music" menu on your PS3, depending on which files you are going to stream from your Zune. Select "Scan for media server."

    • 6

Check your PC and confirm that an "unknown device" is detected by Windows Media Player. Allow the device to share your files.

    • 7

Stream any Zune files located within your Windows Media shared files to your PS3. The files should now be visible to the PS3 and you can select them for streaming.
