How to Get a Home Screen on My TV for PS3

The PlayStation 3 (PS3) is a video game console that owners not only use for playing video games, but also for watching Blu-Ray movies, accessing the Internet and downloading additional games and videos. After purchasing a PS3 system, it must be properly connected to a television before the home screen can be accessed and seen on the TV. PS3's home screen is the main menu for the game console, where all of the applications are accessed.

  Determine which video mode works for your television. Look at the chart at the PlayStation website in the Knowledge Center.

  Choose a component AV cable, HDMI cable, AV cable or S Video cable to connect your PS3 console to your television, based on which cables are appropriate for your television.

  Connect one end of an HDMI cable into the back of the PS3 console at the "HDMI Out" port. Place the other end in the "HDMI In port" of your television.

  Connect one of the other types of cables by plugging the end with one single connector into the rear of the PS3 console. Plug the connectors on the other end into the television's video and audio ports. Each connector is color coated to match it's corresponding port on the television.

  Turn the PS3 console and the television on and the home screen will load.
