Instructions
Create an account that will be shared. When creating a username and password for the PlayStation Network, use something that will be easy for both parties to remember. Create the account with the settings both parties want in place, including online services and downloadable content for existing games.
Open the shared account on a second PS3, using the username and password. To do this, the account must be logged off all other PS3s, since a PSN account can be opened only on one system at a time. This will allow only you access to the PSN's online area and will not share information between the two systems' hard drives.
Use the shared account to download extra game content and play online games. The PSN will remember every account's purchase history and will allow some things to be downloaded a second time onto a new system. While full games are protected from this and can't be downloaded onto a new console, game extras and downloadable content -- such as extra missions or maps -- usually can. You can also play multiplayer games online with this account, provided that only one person sharing the account does so at a time.
