How to Disable UPnP for DMZ PS3 Problems

It is recommended that you leave your PlayStation 3's UPnP settings enabled, which is the default setting if you allow the PS3 to automatically set up your connection. However, if you are having DMZ issues between your PS3 and router, you may need to disable your UPnP settings. If this is the case, you will need to manually set up your Internet connection. Although this may sound complicated, you will only be changing the UPnP settings and the PS3 will automatically do the rest for you.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate through the PS3 main menu using the left thumbstick or the directional pad. Scroll to the "Settings" menu, then scroll down to the "Network Settings" sub-menu and press "X."

    • 2

Select the "Internet Connection Settings" option and select "OK" when the prompt window appears. Click the "Custom" option on the next screen.

    • 3

Pick the appropriate option on the next screen for your current Internet connection. You must choose between "Wired Connection" and "Wireless Connection." If you choose the latter option, pick "Scan" on the next screen, then pick your connection from the list that appears.

Enter your WEP or WPA password if your network is encrypted. Use the virtual keyboard to enter the password, then press "Start." Scroll through all of the subsequent settings by pressing "Right" on the directional pad to have the PS3 set them automatically. Do this until you reach the UPnP screen.

Highlight the "Disable" option with the directional pad or left thumbstick, then press "X." Press "X" on the following screen to test and save the connection settings.
