PS3 Disc Gate Will Not Go Down

The PlayStation 3 game console has a disc gate that goes up and down to hide and display the console's memory and CompactFlash disc slots. It may become stuck in the open position when a device is improperly inserted in the console. A memory card or CompactFlash memory disc that sticks out of the port will not allow the gate to fully close, and it can break off if the gate is forcibly closed. Damage to the game console may void your device's warranty, as the warranty does not cover accidental damage.

Instructions

    • 1

Wait for the light next to the CompactFlash port to stop flashing and press "Eject" to remove the flash memory card.

    • 2

Hold "Eject" until the memory stick or CompactFlash ejects from the card slot.

    • 3

Place the CompactFlash card in a safe place, and check the disc gate for any objects that may be preventing the gate from closing.

    • 4

Lift the gate all the way up, and gently push the gate down to close it.
