How to Connect the Universal Input Cords for the PS3

The PlayStation 3 comes with a universal input cord that provides standard definition resolution. One end of the cord splits into three smaller cords that attach to the television inputs. Connecting the cord is a straightforward process provided that each cord is plugged in to the proper ports. The PS3 also accommodates a high-definition resolution cable that replaces the standard universal cord. The high-definition cable provides resolution of 1080p rather than the universal cable's 480i resolution.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug the rectangular-shaped end of the cord into the "AV Multi Out connector" port on the back of the console. The port is to the immediate left of the power cable input.

    • 2

Plug the yellow tip of the cable into the "Video" port on the television.

    • 3

Plug the red tip of the cable into the "Audio left" port on the television.

    • 4

Plug the white tip of the cable into the "Audio right" port on the television.
