Connect an external device such as an SD card or flash drive to your computer. If you're using a flash drive, connect it to a USB port on your computer. If you're using an SD card, plug it into the card slot on your computer.
Double-click "Computer" on the desktop to launch Windows Explorer. Locate your external drive's icon and double-click it to launch the disk window.
Drag files such as photos, music and videos to your external drive's disk window. Close the disk window when you finish and then unplug or disconnect your external drive.
Connect your external drive to your PS3. If you're using a flash drive, plug it into one of the four USB ports on your gaming console. If you're using an SD card, plug it into the card reader on your gaming console.
Turn on your gaming console and then turn on your TV. Your external drive's icon is displayed on the XMB menu on your screen.
Select your external drive's icon and press "X" to display playable content.
Select the category for which you want to display content and then press the "Triangle" button. For example, select "Music" if you want to display the music files on your external drive.
Select "Display All" and press "X" to display all the files in the category you selected. Highlight the file you want to play and press "X."
Press the "Triangle" button and select "Copy" if you want to upload the file to your PS3. Repeat this step to upload additional files to your gaming console.
Repeat steps 7 to 9 if you want to copy files in other categories to your gaming console.
