How to Adjust Your PS3 Controller

Whether you're using the Sixaxis, DualShock 3 or a third-party PS3 controller, the PS3 allows you to adjust basic controller settings within the PS3 main menu (XMB). The motion controls can be calibrated and the vibration feature can be enabled or disabled. Because the control schemes for games vary, controls for games must be changed within the games themselves. Most games allow you to manually change the controller inputs within the Options or Settings menu.

Instructions

Press the "PS" button in the middle of the PS3 controller to turn it on. Scroll to the "Settings" icon on the PS3 main menu or press the "PS" button to access the "Settings" menu while in-game or watching a video.

Select "Calibrate Motion Controller" to calibrate the magnetic sensor of a PS3 motion controller. When prompted, press the "X" button and move the controller around until the responsiveness is how you want it. Press the "X" button again to save the setting. Press the "O" button to go back a screen.
