How to Format a Stick for PS3

The Memory Stick is a proprietary flash memory device developed by the Sony corporation. It is very similar to SD and Micro SD cards in appearance and function and is available in several size denominations including 4, 8 and 12 gigabytes. Sony's PlayStation 3 game console can make use of memory sticks through the PS3 Media Hub USB device. It can also format the memory stick to ensure the stick will work correctly with the PS3.

     Plug your PS3 Media Hub into a free USB port on your PlayStation 3.

     Plug your memory stick into the memory stick slot on the PS3 Media Hub.

     Turn on your PS3 console and select the "Settings" option from the main menu.

     Select the "Format" utility, then select the memory stick when asked which device you want to format. Confirm your choice when prompted to begin the format process.
