How to Direct Boot a PS3 Game

Remember when booting a video game was simple? You'd insert the game, turn on the game system and start playing. The PlayStation 3's default settings prevent game booting without navigating menus to find and select the game disc. Fortunately, for those who prefer a direct game boot, there is a setting that allows you to do so.

Instructions

  Press the PlayStation button on the controller or the power button on the console to turn the system on. The console will beep and the power indicator will turn green. When the display comes on the TV screen, the PlayStation Network "What's New" selection will be highlighted on the menu.

  Press the left arrow on the controller six times to reach the settings menu. The "Game Settings" option will be highlighted.

  Press the down arrow on the controller four times to highlight "System Settings." Press the X button to select this option.

  Press the down arrow nine times to highlight "Disc Auto-Start." Press X to select this option. A window will open on the right side of the screen with "No" highlighted.

  Press the down arrow once to highlight "Yes." Press the X button. Discs will now start automatically without you having to navigate menus to boot games, movies or compact discs.
