How to Check If an Original PS3 Is 3D Ready

Watching 3D movies on your 3D-ready HDTV requires you to have a 3D movie player. If you have a PlayStation 3 (PS3), then you already have the necessary hardware. The key to making sure your PlayStation 3 is 3D-ready is having the firmware update that unlocked the 3D rendering codex. This firmware is available directly from Sony and can be installed in three different ways. Two of these options require an Internet connection while the third allows you to update via information on a PS3 disk.
