Set Up New Wireless Network
Hook up your new wireless network router. Access your router's configuration utility and create a network name (SSID) and security key for your home network. Refer to the device's owner's manual for instructions on how to do this.
Turn on the PS3 game unit.
Use the arrow buttons on the PS3 controller to highlight "Settings" in the menu. Press the "X" button to select the highlighted item. Select "Network Settings." Select "Internet Connections." Select "Internet Connect Settings." A message will appear stating that if the PS3 is currently connected to the Internet and you choose to proceed, the Internet connection will be disconnected.
Select "Yes" when prompted to continue. When prompted to select a connection method, select "Easy." Then select "Wireless." You will be prompted to select how you want to enter your WLAN settings. Select "Scan."
Highlight and select the new network you want to use. Select the Right Arrow to continue. Select your network security setting ("None" if you have no security key, "WEP" or "WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK.") Select the Right Arrow to continue.
Press the "X" button to display the on-screen keyboard. Enter your network security key (if applicable). Press the "X" button to save the new settings. Press the "X" button to test the new connection. "Succeeded" will appear next to all of the listed items if the connection is established successfully.
Set Up New Wired Network
Hook up your new router. Use an Ethernet cable to connect the Ethernet port on the back of your PS3 to an unused Ethernet port on your router.
Turn on the PS3 game unit.
Highlight "Settings" in the menu. Press the "X" button to select the highlighted item. Select "Network Settings." Select "Internet Connections." Select "Internet Connection Settings." A message will appear stating that if the PS3 is currently connected to the Internet and you choose to proceed, the Internet connection will be disconnected.
Select "Yes" when prompted to continue. When prompted to select a connection method, select "Easy." Then select "Wired" if prompted.
Press the "X" button to save the new settings. Press the "X" button to test the new connection. "Succeeded" will appear next to all of the listed items if the connection is established successfully.
