Instructions
Inspect the disk to determine the severity of the crack. If the reflective foil layer is cracked, you must replace the disk. If the clear plastic layer is cracked, continue to the next step.
Remove dirt and oil from the disk by gently washing it with water. Dry the disk with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center to the edge of the disk. Do not use a towel or cloth with rough fibers.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild abrasive or gritty toothpaste to polish the disk, wiping from the center to the outer edge of the disk. Brasso metal polish, rubbing compound for cars and CD/DVD disk cleaners often work best. Press gently while cleaning.
Rinse the disk with water. Dry the disk with a soft, lint-free cloth, wiping from the center to the edge of the disk.
Use a soft, lint-free cloth to cover the clear, plastic layer of the disk with an even layer of car wax. Use small, circular motions to spread the wax, while pressing down gently. Wait for the wax to dry. Wipe off the the wax.
Inspect the disk. If the crack remains, repeat Steps 3-5 until the crack disappears or decreases significantly.
